Breaking down barriers to bring children around the world together through music and Makaton.
Welcome to VOTW
Voices of the World (VOTW) is a unique collaborative award winning intercultural project that brings learners from around the world together through the use of music and Makaton signing to preserve their linguistic identities and to develop an understanding, awareness and appreciation of other languages and cultures.
The project was created by Sharon Tonner-Saunders, a lecturer in education at the University of Dundee, and involves learners of all ages: kindergarten, primary and secondary pupils as well as university student teachers.
The project runs from October to May each school year with a range of intercultural activities. If you school would like to take part, please email Sharon or one of the project's team leaders.
This Month's Activities
We have just released our first collaborative song for this term. You can watch schools around the world sing and sign the colour song as well as watch the videos they created HERE.
December has two activites that you can take part in. The first one is the We Wish You A Merry Christmas song that you can sing and sign in your own language, or simple listen to others schools around the world sing and sing this popular song. The other activity is to share a Christmas or winter picture from your country. To take part, go HERE.
